China issued a warning on Tuesday night that is ready for any “type of war” with the United States after the rates imposed hours before by the Trump administration.
A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that tariffs would not lead to a resolution of US concerns about the fentanyl that originates in China.
“If the United States really wants to solve the fentanyl problem, then the right thing is to consult with China on the basis of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit to address others’ concerns,” the Chinese spokesman, Lin Jian saying At a press conference on Tuesday night.
“If the United States has another agenda in mind and if the war is what the United States wants, be it a tariff war, a commercial war or any other type of war, we are ready to fight until the end,” added Jian.
The comments occurred shortly after the Trump administration imposed 25% tariffs on the goods of Mexico and Canada, as well as 10% of tariffs in China imports. The new round of duties on Chinese products doubled an initial set of rates placed in China last month.

These duties will be aware of the similar rates imposed during the commercial war of the first Trump administration in 2018. Some of those rates are already 25%, although Beijing issued some exemptions as a result of the commercial agreement of 2020 “Phase one”.
The new Chinese tariffs will enter into force for the products sent next Monday, March 10.
In a series of publications in social networks last month, Trump said he would place tariffs in Canada, Mexico and China to organize the manufacture and transport of illicit drugs that end in the United States.
During a speech to a joint session of Congress on Tuesday night, Trump also strongly criticized tariffs imposed by the Chinese government on US assets.
“President Trump continues to demonstrate his commitment to ensure that US trade policy serves the national interest,” said the White House in A statement Tuesday.
The Secretary of Commerce, Howard Lutnick, said Tuesday afternoon that Trump can soon offer Canada and Mexico a road to the relief of tariffs placed in some goods covered by the Free Trade Agreement of North America.
Lutnick did not mention a potential commitment to China.
