Andrew Garfield took the stage to distribute the Oscar to the best animated feature and the best animated short film with Goldie Hawn, and did not miss the opportunity pass to tell the actress what he meant for her late mother.
“There is someone, there is a person who gave my mother during his life the greatest joy, the greatest comfort. And tonight, I feel very fortunate, because I can thank that person from the bottom of my heart. That person is Goldie Hawn,” Garfield said. “I can feel it smiling at this time.”
Hawn replied: “Thank you, love. That really touches me.”

Garfield continued: “You have given us films full of joy, you have lifted our spirits and made us feel that everything is fine with the world again and again.”
“I loved it,” said Hawn in response. “I was very lucky to make movies in this incredible Hollywood and make people laugh, and maybe some did not, but it’s fine.”
Garfield’s mother died in 2019 for pancreatic cancer.
